Welcome from the Parish Priest

Dear Parishioners and Friends of the Parish,
A very warm welcome to our new parish website. Whether you have recently moved into the Parish or have been a parishioner for many years, I hope that you will find our website useful and interesting.

The parish has been served, since 1978, by Benedictines from the Monastery of Saint Michael and All Angels at Belmont, near Hereford. The parishioners maintain close links with the monastery by welcoming priests from the community to Abergavenny for the celebration of Mass as well as other liturgical occasions as well as parishioners visiting Belmont for weekend retreats and days of recollection.

I hope that you will find this website informs you about our parish life and encourage you to become involved in our community in Abergavenny.

The development of the world wide web has had a profound effect on communication in all its many facets. The church needs to embrace this technology positely as Pope Benedict wrote in his message for the 45th World Communications Day in 2011: I would like to invite Christians, confidently and with an informed and responsible creativity, to join the network of relationshops which the digital era has made possible. This network is an intergral part of human life and the web is contributing to the development of new forms of shared awarness. Communication technology must be placed at the service of the integral good of the individual and of the whole of humanity
